The gap

Most Canadian charities have never been rated.

Rating agencies do deep, careful work on a few hundred organizations. For everyone else, the answers have been sitting in public CRA filings. We compute the numbers for every charity that files enough detail, and we show our work.

Right of reply: this charity hasn't added a response yet. When it does, it appears here, and it is never removed.

Plain terms

What we can't tell you.

Trust comes from saying it plainly.

The numbers are self-reported.

Every figure comes from the charity's own T3010 filing. We compute honestly from it, but we don't audit it, and we say so on every card.

The data lags.

Charities file up to six months after year-end and the CRA takes time to process. Read every number as "last reported" (F2024), not live.

Coverage has gaps.

We can compute cents-to-cause for 60,998 of 83,761 charities and reserves for 42,874. Charities that file less detail show fewer numbers, never invented ones.

Impact is hard.

Whether a program works isn't in any filing. Where Charity Intelligence's analysts have rated it (618 charities), we show that, clearly labelled. We don't fabricate impact for the rest.
